Congrats to Not Your Mama for a second straight league win. That is two years and two wins and she definitely deserves her ticket for the Champions League next year. In the middle of the season, it was pretty close but the stretch run really separated the contenders and the pretenders. I was also touting this as the best league. But in average points scored it was actually the worst. This was probably due to a large number of disappointments and busts this year.
Bob Loblaw’s Law Blog – 5th Prediction – Champions League
A tough year for the Law Blog. After gaining a lot of readers early in the year, blog readers became uninterested. A 3-0 start faltered into a 6-5 season that leaves this team in the Minors. An especially tough loss week 11 to the last place team took all hope from this team to make it to the Champions League. A tough year for most of the teams with the first pick as Saquon just didn’t have the year everyone expected.
Scott County FC – 4th Prediction – Minor Leagues
The team was sitting at 3-3 in 7th place just past the midpoint of the season. They then rattled off 4 straight wins to get into the playoffs and earn the regular-season points title. Unfortunately, that was their last win and they will be remaining in the Minor Leagues despite a fantastic season. There wasn’t even a particularly bad week in the stretch of losses. Just a couple of close games that didn’t go the way of Scott County.
The Relegated Vegemites – 10th Prediction – Champions League
Despite a 1-5 start, the Vegemites played hard the rest of the season to finish 4-7. It still wasn’t enough to drag themselves out of the relegation zone. I don’t believe any one player could be blamed for this result. It was more of a lack of inspiration throughout the locker room. Let’s face it, no one wanted to play representing one of the most repulsive foods ever created. Calls were made to change the name to Brussel Sprouts or Spam. Some even considered Stale Bread or Moldy Cheese as potential upgrades. Hopefully, management will consider some of these options for the following season.
Boston Sea Dragons – 7th Prediction – Amateur Hour League
The mysterious Mr. Rooney put together a solid team but QB play really held this team back. Brady, Darnold, and Wentz all underwhelmed throughout the year. It was largely due to the lack of WR talent around all of these QBs. This caused some losses when star players like Tyler Lockett inexplicably decided to not show for games. The Sea Dragons will be back in the Minors next year. Be sure to get some rest before then and take a day off. Maybe go ride on a ferris wheel.
Norfolk - N - Way – 8th Prediction – Amateur Hour League
This team made it to 5-2 and was almost able to scrape together a playoff run despite one of the lowest points totals in the league. They were able to win close games all season, but losses in the final two weeks against the two teams that would be eventually fighting for the championship sunk the hopes of this team. If they can put together a team with a bit more talent, they should easily be looking at a playoff berth next year.
Team Eline – 11th Prediction – Amateur Hour League
3-8 isn’t bad for not really drafting or having a QB at times in a superflex league. But still, this team was able to spoil a couple of teams' seasons by getting some key wins. I would suggest attending the draft or at least setting up the players so you get a couple of QBs next year.
Team Hernandez – 12th Prediction – Minor Leagues
The team started and ended with a win. We can just forget about the rest of the season. It isn’t really worth looking at. Guice, OBJ, and David Johnson left this team constantly seeing the L’s pile up. OBJ and David Johnson may have been two of the most frustrating players this year. I don’t understand how DJ could just lose his job. And OBJ put up just enough points that you had to keep playing him, but not enough to ever win you a week. These are two players I won't be excited to draft next year.
LA Talon – 3rd Prediction – Amateur Hour League
In the regular season, the Talons only beat 2 teams with a winning record. Luckily they beat every team with a losing record. More importantly, they got one win in the playoffs which will send this team to the Champions League. The team was solid up and down the lineup. A couple of injuries added some challenges but the team navigated the tricky waters well and outperformed my prediction. Well done.
Always Sony In Philadelphia – 9th Prediction – Minor Leagues
This team started with 4 losses and ended with 5 losses. Not a great season. Mariotta, JuJu, Damien Williams all really hurt this team, but they still managed to put up a respectable number of points scored. The points against was second highest in the league and a couple of tough losses put this team all the way at the bottom of the league.
Not Your Mama – 1st Prediction – Champions League
Two years in the RFFA and Two Ships. After losing the first two weeks, this team only dropped one game for the rest of the season and cruised into the playoffs. This team required contributions from many different players throughout the season, but careful roster management kept the right players in the starting roles. This team will definitely be one to watch in the Champions League next year.
Team Camin – 2nd Prediction – Minor Leagues
It is interesting to see that the two teams in the championship were picking side by side at 10 and 11. This Camin enjoyed the fewest points against all season. That isn’t to take away from a solid team that put up a very good point total and was only 3 points from securing the championship. And most importantly this team is headed to the big leagues.
Cheesy Poofs – 6th Prediction – Minor Leagues
A 2-4 start was almost turned into a playoff run but a 4-1 finish wasn’t quite enough. The team had a great year though with the second-most points scored. Unfortunately, that may not matter for much when this is the only Camin that will not be playing in the Champions League next year. Maybe you should change your team name to Cooper Manning?
