We have a new Champion of Champions. Congratulations to Tom Lardner and the Norfolk Yokels on a great season. He led in points for all season and had a great stretch through the playoffs. A well-earned win.
Next year the Champions League will play host to 3 teams enjoying their third consecutive year in the league and 3 teams returning for the 2nd year. 6 fresh new teams with no experience at the top will try to fight their way to the Championship.
Rammed by Legatron – 8th Prediction – Minor Leagues
Our 8th place team struggled all year at the RB position. Saquon and Joe Mixon never returned the value this team was hoping for. Mixon did pick up a bit at the end of the season, but that was only good enough to get a few wins at the end of the season and in the consolation brackets. Legatron will fall back into the Minor Leagues next year after a two-year run in the Champions League. I think this owner will be back in the Champions League sooner rather than later.
Norfolk Yokels – 1st Prediction – Champions League (No Playoffs)
I am guessing we will see a lot of strong finishes out of the number 2 spot where McCaffery went in most drafts. The RB 1 for the season was a league winner even with the high draft capital. And with Derrick Henry filling in the RB 2 role well during the final stretch, this team was near unbeatable putting up over 300 points in the finals. Once again congratulations on a great season.
League Boss – 2nd Prediction – Playoffs
A great final stretch of the season left the commissioner in 1st overall with a 9-2 record. This gave a fortunate seeding in the finals as both teams on the other side of the bracket put up more points during the first round. Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. After a great middle of the season, this team just couldn’t put up a fight in the finals. Still happy to finish second. It is probably also worth noting the commissioner faced one of the lowest points against totals. Another reason it is better to be lucky than good.
Mr. G’s Drama Class – 11th Prediction – Minor Leagues
We go from one of the lowest points against to the lowest points for. After the disappearing act of Antonio Brown, David Johnson decided to get in on the fun and go from 1st round pick to bench warmer. These two players could be some of the trickiest selections next year if they are even in the league. Mr. G will, unfortunately, be making those picks from the Minor Leagues. This is another team that will see their 2 year run in the Champions League come to a close.
Disgusting Act By Randy Moss – 6th Prediction – Minor Leagues
Our defending champion wins the luckiest owner award for the Champions League by drawing the lowest points against total. Somehow Randy pulled out a 7-4 record with a team that was lacking production all year long. Injuries took out key starters throughout the season for this team and a couple of players like Nuk didn’t quite live up to their usual standards. I think Randy should be thrilled with 6th and just move onto next year.
Los Pollos Hermanos – 3rd Prediction – Minor Leagues
The Pollos had a great season. They were at the top of the league all season with great picks in Eckler and Godwin. A little bad luck in seeding put them against the eventual champions in the 1st round of the playoffs. But that luck turned around with a 0.1 point victory in the consolation bracket to wrap up 3rd place and take home some cash. The Pollos will be returning for a 2nd year in the Champions League.
The FanPub Podcast – 4th Prediction – Playoffs
The Podcast put together a solid season but just ran out of steam in the playoffs. Some players put up some good numbers, but it just wasn’t enough to secure any wins. Dalvin Cook’s injuries late with poor games really hurt this team and the usual big names like Mahomes and Tyreek couldn’t put enough points on the board. Regardless this team should be happy with making it to the playoffs in their first Champions League experience.
Flying Purple People Eaters – 5th Prediction – Playoffs
My prediction would have been correct if we did points for instead of record. The People Eaters had the 4th most points in the league but that was only good enough for a 5-6 record. The points against weren’t even that high. This team just couldn’t close out some of the tight games. A heartbreaking season for the Purple People Eaters but they will be happy to know they will get another shot at the title next year.
New Lennox Mustangs – 9th Prediction – Champions League (No Playoffs)
The New Lennox Mustangs put together a good team by the end of the season but early struggles put this team in too large of a hole to dig themselves out. Players like JuJu, Rojo, and Jared Goff (JaGo?) put up too many duds throughout the season. This team had a taste of the Champions League and will have to work hard again to get back into the elite tier.
Team Essman – 10th Prediction – Playoffs
A rough 0-5 end of the season puts Essman back into the Minor Leagues. Even through the first part of the season, Essman had to work very hard for a 4-2 record. Then the Pittsburgh backfield became a mess and Rodgers never materialized into the high scoring threat we expect. Couple that with Damien Williams getting injured and Davante Adams also disappointing out of Green Bay and it is no wonder this team ended 4-7. There isn’t much you can do when almost all of your stars struggle.
The Rifles – 12th Prediction – Minor Leagues
I thought Cam Newton, Tevin Coleman, Tyreek Hill, Brandin Cooks, and Desean Jackson could come back and grab some wins for the Rifles. Unfortunately, only one player really had any impact down the stretch. This season was already a lost effort anyway. I give the team a lot of credit for continuing to play hard. They still regularly put up over 100 points at the end of the season and made other teams really work for the Ws.
ForTheBrand Let’s Go – 7th Prediction – Minor Leagues
This team also finished the season rough at 1-4 to be the first team demoted to the Minors. A really tough break as the patriots Def couldn’t quite support the rest of the squad. Not surprisingly, this team had some major disappointments in Melvin Gordon, OBJ, and TY Hilton. It was 1 and done in the Champions League for this team but they will be one of the teams to beat in the Minor Leagues next year.
