Amateur Hour League Draft Recap

We are just past the halfway point of the season and this league is the opposite of the log jam we see in the Champions League. The Amateurs are perfectly distributed between undefeated and winless. There is still a lot to play for the coming weeks. 4 teams at 3-3 could easily make it to the playoffs or fall and remain in the bottom league.

A number of the top teams have been getting extremely lucky so far in the season. I would guess at least two of the teams currently penciled into the playoffs will be erased from that list. This league could be in for a big shakeup in the last 4 weeks.

. O Saquon U C? – 1st Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues (Playoffs)

I thought this would be a playoff team but just about everything has gone wrong for them. Including having the most points put up against them. Losing Saquon for multiple weeks is the start. Now that he is back Kerryon is out. After a couple of good weeks, Keenan Allen has fallen off. The starting QBs turned out to be complete duds. This team was hoping to play Teddy Bridgewater and Matt Moore this week over the original QBs of Dalton and Garoppolo. There is still a little hope for this team but another year in the amateur hour league is looking more and more likely.

Show Me Your TDs – 2nd Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues (Playoffs)

This team has survived the absence of Tyreek Hill and un underperforming Aaron Rodgers to make it to 3-3. The next few weeks might be tough with some byes and injuries, namely Kamara. But the roster is still strong enough to make a late playoff push. Courtland Sutton is looking better with the Sanders trade and Tom Brady received an upgrade at WR. There are even Robby Anderson trade rumors which could be a boost to him as well.

I’ve Had Bad Luck– 3rd Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues (Playoffs)

I’m not sure how a team could have McCaffrey and Cook and not have a winning record. This team is sitting at 3-3. There is still a lot of hope. Hunter Henry is back, Ty Johnson is starting, Sanu should get a bump. I think the team needs a trade. There is a lot of RB depth and this team needs help at WR and QB. One good trade could get this team into the playoffs.

Team Nakagawa – 4th Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues (No Playoffs)

Our bottom of the 3-3 teams has been surviving a lot of challenges. Derek Carr and Rudolph are holding down the QB position until Mahomes comes back. The bench leaves a lot to be desired but the starters have shown a lot of promise. If they all pick up their game a bit, this team could even try to squeeze into the playoffs. More than likely they are just trying to get into the minor leagues which will still be a challenge but no doubt possible.

Team Froass – 5th Pick Prediction – Amateur Hour League

2nd most points in the league but a 2-4 record leaves this team in 9th place. I was expecting to see some great players on this team to explain the points, but honestly, I don’t get it. David Johnson has been good and Ekeler was on fire early, but nothing else inspires a lot of confidence. There are a lot of players who have had up and down seasons like Sammy Watkins, Jameis Winston, and Marvin Jones Jr. Team Froass must be playing all the right players at the right time but it just hasn’t been enough for the W.

MN Skol – 6th Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues (Playoffs)

Our northern friends are sitting comfortably at 4-2 in 3rd place. The Lamar Jackson-Kyler Murray one-two punch with a strong defense has made up for other holes in this lineup. To survive Diggs, Hopkins, and Damien Williams having slow starts is nothing short of a miracle. Originally I thought this team would make the playoffs, but this roster is looking very thin. David Montgomery and Duke Johnson are not the ideal names to have in your starting RB positions. This team will be holding on and just trying to scrape their way into the playoffs.

Titan Up – 7th Pick Prediction – Amateur Hour League

I thought this team was going to be in the bottom 4. But having the fewest points scored against them has put them at #1 and undefeated. They are 5th in points scored, which isn’t bad but usually not the reason for going undefeated. And when you look at the team, it isn’t awe-inspiring. Russel Wilson has been amazing. Derrick Henry has been okay and Latavius Murray looks like he will have one more week as a starter. Nothing else really flashes for this team. I think they have enough to get one or two more wins which is enough for the playoffs but it isn’t a dominating performance.

SCLSU – 8th Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues (No Playoffs)

Our top-scoring team is sitting at 3-3. From the points scored, there is a lot to like about this team. But with only one startable QB, a struggling TE, and a disappointing year from Freeman leaves some holes. This is definitely one of the strongest benches in the league. If this team can play the right players at the right time, I think they are guaranteed to get back into the playoffs. Who needs a 2nd QB when you can play Chris Godwin in your superflex spot.

Fux with Chux – 9th Pick Prediction – Amateur Hour League

The roster doesn’t look that bad considering the auto-draft troubles at the start. But when you add in some underperformers in LeVeon Bell and Alshon Jeffrey along with an injury to Davante Adams you will be winless at this point in the season. It looks like another year in Amateurs for this team.

Captain Kirk is Climbing a Mtn – 10th Pick

Prediction – Amateur Hour League

This team has 0.9 points less than the undefeated team leading the standings. But instead of having the least amount of points scored against, they have the second most. That is the difference between 6-0 and 2-4. The Patriots D has been keeping this team afloat until now because overall the roster leaves a lot to be desired. If the competition settles down and the Patriots continue to be the MVP of fantasy this team has a chance to get of the Amateurs.

Built by Bama– 11th Prediction – Minor Leagues (No Playoffs)

Built by Bama or built by luck? The team with the 3rd fewest points scored is sitting at 4-2 in fourth place and the final playoff spot. This team is home to some of the biggest disappoints in fantasy. OJ Howard and Joe Mixon lead the list of disappoints this year. Joe Mixon has fewer points than 33 other RBs, over 40 WRs, and even 7 defenses. Just brutal. I think this will be one of the teams falling in the second half of the season. One more win should keep them in the minors but I don’t think the playoffs will be possible.

Chubba the Hut – 12th Prediction – Minor Leagues (No Playoffs)

Apparently, two heads are better than one. If Built by Bama has all the underperformers, then Chubba has the over performers. Chubb, Carson, Kupp, Waller, Hooper, Watson. This looks like a championship-caliber team at this point in the season. Not much looks like it can stop them on their way to the playoffs and a championship.
