Welcome to Minor League X 2020. And Wow, Lamar Jackson in the 2nd round? Really? The reigning MVP? The guy who won fantasy leagues last year? Okay… let's see who managed this turn of events the best. Spoiler alert, the winner is the person who took Lamar in the 2nd.
Washington Revolution – 1st Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues
Love the 1.01. Love the team name. And I think this team can still compete. Mostert can be an RB2. Bridgewater can be QB2. And there are enough WRs to provide value in those roles. The team even managed to add Mark Andrews for some major upside at TE. I think they can knock on the door of the champions league but might fall just short. All of that is secondary because this team has already had a successful season.
FTB LFG – 2nd Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues
IMO the RB room is a little week despite CMC. The other positions are pretty solid though. A 4 QB setup gives some trade options. Haskins in the 15th FTW! ICUMI TY is getting old and has been on IR. SMH. But SRSLY there are other WRs to make up for any struggles. IRL I like Ertz to have a good year but I think fantasy-wise he might slip a bit. LOL, Okay I’m done. I had to look some up and I feel old now. GOI.
Team Essman – 3rd Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues
Kelce in the third locks down the position, but it does come at a cost. The WRs are anchored by some sophomores and Essman had to go fishing for an RB2. Hunt and Ingram have some upside out there but they need some good breaks to make that a reality. Darnold as the 4th QB makes up for some this. The team can definitely trade one of those QBs to strengthen another position. Essman has the potential to get this team to the Champions League, but I am going to wait until I see some of the trades go through.
BH Warriors – 4th Pick Prediction – Amateur Hour League
I don’t mind Connor as an upside play, but I would want to see some support behind him in case there is an injury. Currently, only Kerryon is waiting in the wings for this team. That makes me very nervous. WR3 is also shaky with Jamison Crowder. Gase hasn’t proven to be a great head coach and probably won’t do many favors for Crowder. The bench is pretty safe and doesn’t offer a lot of upside to replace any starters who don’t perform. I think this team is on eggshells. They are okay for now, but if anything goes wrong, they are sinking fast.
Team Carr – 5th Pick Prediction – Amateur Hour League
Well, it looks like we have our first clear case of auto-draft without setting the preferred lineup. The only QB is Tua who probably won’t start week 1. I was going to give this team credit for grabbing a bunch of good RBs and WRs and being patient at other positions. Note to the league, come offering your QBs here and see what you can get in return.
Dre Tones – 6th Pick Prediction – Champions League
This team put together a nice draft from the sixth position. They were able to grab Roethlisberger as their 3rd QB in the 9th round which could be a great value. The two late TEs are a nice way to cap off the draft hoping one of them will hit this year. And Antonio Gibson in the 11th looks even better. Also, some nice upside WR options late in the draft. The start of the draft looks good for this team, but rounds 9-15 are going to be what wins it for this team.
Mahomes and Lamariarty – 7th Pick Prediction – Champions League Champion
I am not quite sure about the name. But to be fair almost no one in a redraft league is worried about finding a name that combines these two players. How can every other person in the league pass on either Mahomes or Lamar or both? This was an absolute gift. Then with Kittle in the 3rd, this team will almost never lose TE or QB in a week. The craziness continues with this team still finding WR and RB value. I find zero faults on this team. Welcome to the Champions League 2021.
Team Barnfield – 8th Pick Prediction – Amateur Hour League
This team isn’t bad. But after what the 7th pick did, this one just isn’t quite there. After Derrick Henry, the team went heavy WR and QB. That leaves the RB2 position with RoJo and Phillip Lindsey. I like Lindsey here a bit better with the recent TB moves. The team really needs OBJ and one of the QBs to step up big time. Despite being loaded at the top of the draft, the team adds even more WRs late in the draft. Unless they find some WR needy teams, this team might get unbalanced in the middle of the season.
Tom’s Puppet – 9th Pick Prediction – Champions League
Two years ago, I said this team would be really bad and they made it to the Champions League. Last year I said they were going to do great and they dropped a league. Sorry to say puppets, I like your team this year. The QBs were going slow and Kyler toward the end of the 3rd is fantastic. Tons of upside there. Two solid RBs at the top. Depth is a concern, but all the other positions are solid with some good WR and TE pieces that could be part of a trade to improve the RB3 position. All in all a solid draft as this team shows why they deserve to be back on top.
Team McSwain – 10th Pick Prediction – Amateur Hour League
As I am writing this, I am worried about these last three teams. I have already filled who I think will be in the champions league and I only have 1 spot left in the minors. These last three might be rough. And looking at the team now, I think it starts here. The recent move of Fournette takes a lot of value out of this third-round pick. Minshew in the 7th when Roethlisberger was available in the 9th also seems like a reach. Maybe the Jags will be playing from behind though. Then we add 3 rookie WRs competing for the WR2 spot. I think there a few too many hopes for this team to be a solid competitor this year.
Team Froass– 11th Prediction – Minor Leagues
This team actually isn’t all that bad. There is some nice balance across the positions and Cam Akers as the RB3 on this team seems like good value. There isn’t anything too flashy about this team and the late picks don’t offer a ton of upside. I think this team will be tough to beat every single week and they might just be on the edge of getting into the playoffs. Unfortunately, I have them just on the outside looking in.
Team NFG – 12th Prediction – Minor Leagues
I was expecting this team to be awful considering all I had left was a spot in the Amateurs. However, I think this is a nicely drafted team. Rounds 1-5 were safe solid picks. Rounds 6-9 will really determine the fate of this team. Jonathan Taylor could be an RB1 or he could be stuck in a useless timeshare. AJ Green could be a WR1 or he could be out with an injury. Hayden Hurst could put up his past numbers or he could take over all of Austin Hooper’s volume. Jared Goff has gone both ways as well. Rounds 10-16 don’t offer a whole lot. This team has a wide range of outcomes from playoffs to relegation. I am going to slot them in the middle and move down Team Barnfield.
