Minor League X End of Season Recap

Its rare in decimal scoring to see a game come down to 0.1 points. It is even rarer in a two-week playoff. Los Pollos Hermanos had a nerve-racking Tuesday and Wednesday awaiting any possible stat correction that could take away the Minor League X Championship. Ultimately the win held up and the chickens were able to hoist the trophy. Well, they could hoist the imaginary trophy in their minds.
Congrats to the other two teams going to the playoffs, Thefanpub Podcast and The Villian Club. The Biergarten couldn’t quite pull out a playoff win to get into the Champions League.
And my all-important predictions were at 4/12. I think that is average. I am okay with being average.
Thanks everyone for a great year and good luck in your respective leagues next year.
The Villian Club – 3rd Place Prediction – Champions League
The Villians were so close to a championship. 3.7 more points in the 1st round of the playoffs would have led to an easy victory in the championship. An absent Melvin Gordon may have been the final culprit for the loss. That and going up against Patrick Mahomes. Still, it was a good season and one to be proud of. Most points for the league at 1473.6 is very respectable. This should be a strong team in the Champions League next year.
Team Carr – 10th Place Prediction – Amateur Hour League
This team never scored more than 119.4 points in a week, but they were over 100 points in 8 out of 11 weeks. Fairly remarkable consistency by this team. Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough for more than a 4-7 record for the year. Not drafting enough QBs was the major dagger for this team. Week 11 even saw Taysom Hill get the start at QB. A dynamic player, but not the starter you are looking for. More QBs and a maybe clearing out the schedule for the draft will hopefully get this team out of the Amateur Hour League next year.
Alstadt Biergarten – 4th Place Prediction – Champions League
The Beers weren’t terrible in the playoffs, but they weren’t good enough to get a victory. AJ Green’s injury left the Beers without a number 1 WR and they couldn’t keep up with the other playoff teams. The Beers will need to grind out another good season in the minor leagues next year to give themselves another chance at the playoffs.
Stoke Penguins – 6th Place Prediction – Champions League
This team was sitting in 5th at the end of the season watching the playoffs team fight for the championship. A 5-1 record became 6-5 after a rough final stretch of the regular season. This team would have really caused some trouble in the playoffs too with 275 points in the 1st round of the playoffs. Drew Brees, Josh Adams, Carlos Hyde, and Matt Breida all couldn’t continue the promising starts to their seasons. Eventually, it just became too much for this team and they were 1 win short of making it to the playoffs, and the Champions League.
Team Cheng – 9th Place Prediction – Minor Leagues
Losing weeks 7 through 9 took Cheng into the Amateur Hour league even though it looked like this team had the players to make a run at the end of the season. Inconsistency really plagued this team. When one player boomed, a couple of others busted. And without any big upside on the bench, there was nothing the manager could do but keep rolling out the same players hoping they could put it all together. Better luck next year.
TheFanPub Podcast – 2nd Place Prediction – Minor leagues
Go check out the website. http://www.thefanpub.com A 0.1 point loss in the finals stings, but making it to the Champions League surely takes away some of the sting. A 10-1 regular season dominated this league. It was surprising to see this team in a lower league after a terrible 1st season in the RFFA, but they have really turned around the franchise and are looking to make some noise in the Champions League next year.
Los Pollos Hermanos – 1st Place Prediction – Minor Leagues
Congrats again to our champions! We already talked about them some. Kamara and Melvin Gordon really carried this team. Diggs had a solid season as well and Chubb came on late. Beyond that, this team lacked any big stars. It just seemed like someone produced enough each week to get the W. I didn’t predict this team to be the champions and I am still a bit surprised. It doesn’t matter though because they have the title and the golden ticket to the Champions League.
Team Begun – 5th Place Prediction – Amateur Hour League
A respectable 6-5 season with 1348 total points will keep team Begun in the Amateur Hour League. The playoffs were within this team’s grasp but 2 losses in the last two weeks against teams scoring 117 and 91 points really stings. Disappointing performances by Conner and Deshaun Watson left this team wondering about what could have been. All it will be is another year in the minor leagues. And most importantly he is still doing better than his brother.
Team Froass – 11th Place Prediction – Amateur Hour League
2nd lowest total points for the year is somewhat surprising for this team. Robert Woods, Julio Jones, Mike Evans, and Gronk sound like a great set of pass catchers. Unfortunately, the RBs were very disappointing and a lack of a second quality QB doomed this team to the Amateur Hour League. Better luck next year. Also a friendly reminder to set your draft list if you are going to auto draft because the computer ain’t so smart.
Team Eline – 7th Place Prediction - Minor Leagues
In no way is Team Eline associated with the commissioner or any family member of the commissioner. The team is not funded, supported, condoned, tolerated, acknowledged, or accepted by the commissioner. The lawsuit is still ongoing. The supreme court will be voting on the topic in the coming weeks. Please contact the RFFA lawyers for any further information.
Lucky Mama – 8th Place Prediction – Amateur Hour League
Now I could keep going on and on about how this Colts fan chose Tom Brady as the 1st overall QB. I could keep beating this dead horse until it has lost all comedic value (it is questionable if these overviews have any comedic to begin with) but I will stop talking about Tom Brady and instead talk about the disappointments on this team. McCoy, Tevin Coleman, and Odell didn’t live up to their draft predictions. An unfortunate year for this team and this Mama should feel lucky she is still in the Minor Leagues.
Trav Esty – 12th Place Prediction – Champions League
At the end of the year, this team has 7 players in the top 10 of their position. However, two are TEs, 1 is a def, and 2 are QBs. That doesn’t leave a lot for RBs and WRs which ultimately took this team down week in and week out. It was just ugly. Best of luck for next year getting into the Minor Leagues.
