What great balance in this league. It should be very exciting watching this league down the stretch. The middle 4 players are all tied at 3-3. 2 games out of first place. And 2 games out of last place. Everything is still up for grabs in this league and it should be a dogfight to the end.
The predictions are my original predictions from after the draft. The order of teams is the same as the draft order. Please feel free to go to the forum if you have any comments.
New Lenox Mustangs – 2nd Place Prediction – Amateur Hour League
Grabbing Connor has saved the season for the Mustangs. A solid second place in this league is setting the team up for a playoff run. However, the 2-game lead could be erased pretty quickly if Connor and Le’Veon split carries in the backfield. One of those two needs to be the bell cow back if this team was to be a playoff contender at the end of the season.
Team Vogel – 1st Place Prediction – Minor Leagues
I complimented this league on coming up with good team names and Team Vogel has spurned me by jumping out to first place and dominating the league with the most points scored. Careful though team Vogel. Karma has shown up in the other minor league and it may just be coming for you by the end of the year. Then again, not even karma looks like it can stop this team. It is absolutely loaded.
Flying Purple People Eaters – 3rd Place Prediction – Champions League
This was one of my locked picks for the Champions League and they are trending in the right direction. Very surprising that the first three draft spots currently are sitting in the first three spots in the standings. Spoiler alert, Scott’s Tots breaks the trend. The People Eaters remain strong with a solid bench. The Purple People need one or two more players to really step up in the second half of the season. There are people putting up good numbers, but one or two more elite performances would seal a playoff spot.
Scott’s Tots – 12th Place Prediction – Amateur Hour League
The Tots have a had a rough start to their season. They couldn’t handle the loss of Mark Ingram for 4 weeks. They just picked up their first win and have enough talent to grab a few more wins before the end of the season. There is still some hope to remain in the minor leagues, but this team is probably just playing the role of spoiler at this point.
A. Brownderas' Mariachi Band– 9th Place Prediction – Amateur Hour League
First McKinnon, then Freeman. That equals 2-4. With Osweiler and Chad Kelley on the bench, this team is still hoping for a miracle to happen that will vault them into the minor leagues. The band is down to only 2 viable running backs and even that is a stretch. Drafting with a zero RB strategy may be a good idea, but actually having zero RBs doesn’t work out so well.
Boston Sea Dragons – 6th Place Prediction – Minor Leagues
At 3-3, the Sea Dragons have been dealing with inconsistent play from Mariota, Cooper, and Lamar Miller. It is time to make those three walk the plank and send them to the bench. There are good replacements on this team and they have a chance to remain competitive down the remaining 5 game stretch. It will be tough though this week with Rodgers and Big Ben on the bench. Fingers crossed Mariota can play well this week.
NYC EZ Packs – 11th Place Prediction – Minor Leagues
Triple sevens aren’t lucky for the EZ Packs. This is the number of points scored against this team. The only thing worse would be playing Team Vogel every single week or facing any team in the Amateur Hour League. The team is getting Dalvin Cook back and has some other good finds on the bench. This team could really mix up the standings if the luck starts to even out a bit. I still expect this team to fight their way back into the minor leagues.
Scott County FC – 5th Place Prediction – Champions League
This year’s Scott v Scott matchup was an absolute bloodbath. By a score of 123-75 Scott County FC made a clear statement there is only room for one Scott in this town. Sitting at the top of the 3-3 teams overall leaves all possibilities open for this team. The bench has a few question marks though. The bye weeks could leave this team in some difficult decisions. Overall, I don’t think Scott Country is going to be able to put it all together. They will stay right around 0.500 for the season.
Kerryon My Wayward Son– 4th Place Prediction – Minor Leagues
Despite Fitz and Lynch looking one year too old, this team has come out with 4 wins and put together a strong starting lineup. The bench is looking a little sad and banged up with little upside. Unless someone discovers the fountain of youth soon, this team is going to have to try to scrape together enough points with the backups and try to stay in the top 4 teams.
Meath Royals – 7th Place Prediction – Minor Leagues
Let’s answer the questions from the start of the year. Is McCoy going to be in jail? Not yet but he might as well be. Is Marquise Goodwin going to break out? Looks like “sit out” is the correct description so far. It could still be coming. Is Alex Collins really a starting RB the whole season? Not really. Will someone steal JuJu’s bike again? Nope, and he is playing out of his mind. Does Kyle Rudolph’s nose glow red? Let’s wait until it gets cold and check back. Is Tyler Eifert more man or machine at this point? Unfortunately, one step closer to machine. A lot of the questions are catching up to the team. The last question is can they make the playoffs? I would say no.
Guns and Rosen – 10th Place Prediction – Amateur Hour League
Picking up Darnold and Rosen give the team some options at QB but Derrick Henry has really tanked this team. Josh Gordon and a healthy TY Hilton bring some life back to this team and they still have everything to play for. The 3-3 teams should be a little worried when they look over their shoulders and see this team coming for them.
Korn Holers – 8th Place Prediction – Champions League
I thought this team would be great this year but some big disappointments in Wilson, Freeman, and Hogan have kept this team from reaching its full potential. Unfortunately, only Wilson has shown any signs of improvement. This is a team that I predicted for the Champions League. I even moved other teams down to make room for them. Turns out I should have just put them in the open spot I had for the Amateur Hour League at the beginning of the season.
