Champions League Midseason Update 2018

Midway through the season, we start to some separation in the league. With 1 undefeated team and 5 teams at 4-2, there is a rift developing with only the Norfolk Yokels there to bridge the gap at 3-3. With 1 top 4 pick struggling on a poor offense in Arizona and one top 4 pick not even playing, this season has dealt some rough cards to some of the teams. Let’s take a look at how everyone is fairing so far.

The predictions are my original predictions from after the draft. The order of teams is the same as the draft order. Please feel free to go post a comment in the forum if you have any thoughts.

Team McAfee – 9th Place Prediction – Minor Leagues

Currently in 8th place but leading the 2-4 teams is Team McAfee. A couple of injuries to Hilton and Cobb as well as underperforming players Howard and Hogan have limited the potential of this team. There is some hope going forward as players come back from injuries. While the playoffs are probably still out of reach, remaining in the Champion’s League is possible. The commissioner is a sitting duck as the lowest 4-2 team. That is McAfee’s target now.

Norfolk Yokels – 7th Place Prediction – Playoffs

The Yokels are in 7th place at 3-3, have the 3rd most points scored, and just gained a game on the 6th place team. Everything is trending in the right direction for this team. While TE looked to be a problem, Jared Cook has stepped up to be a top 10 TE week after week. This team is a little vulnerable with Pittsburgh on a bye this week but look for them to make it into the top 6 if not a playoff spot by the end of the year.

Kerryon Up the Khyber – 5th Place Prediction – Minor Leagues

This team has had multiple backups step up this year and contribute to the 4-2 record. Breida and Yeldon have both produced. Plus, two WRs thought to be 3rd on the depth chart, Golladay and Kupp, have been putting up fantastic numbers. However, total points scored has still been low and this team is also hanging onto the back end of the 4-2 teams. A few more wins will secure a place in the Champions League next year. The playoffs will be a tall order for this team.

Don’t Drink and Draft – 12th Place Prediction – Minor Leagues

I thought David Johnson would be solid. I thought Devonta Freeman was the last RB of the top tier. I was wrong and so was this drunk. Mark Ingram and Alshon Jeffrey came back but it didn’t make any difference for this team. At 0-6 this team is your public service announcement of why you don’t drink and draft. Their fate is sealed, and they will be looking to work their way back to Championship’s League. This time, they weren’t ready for the spotlight.

Team Essman – 4th Place Prediction – Minor Leagues

Zero RB Essman is breaking all the rules and has gotten out to a 4-2 start and is currently eyeing a playoff berth. Essman managed to find all of the late round RBs. Coleman, Eckler, Cohen, and Chris Carson have all had big games. Even Alfred Blue has shown some life. Pair that with solid QBs and WRs and you have a recipe for success. This could be the new way to approach a draft. Zero RB is the way to go.

Disgusting Act by Randy Moss – 3rd Place Prediction – Champions League (No Playoffs)

After getting Fitzgerald to the bench, Moss has strung together two consecutive wins and is looking at a solid playoff spot. The team has rounded into form and is fielding a solid starting lineup. The WRs are still a little shaky, but with Edelman back there should be enough firepower to finish the season strong and try to mix it up in the playoffs.

Return of the Mack – 2nd Place Prediction – Minor Leagues.

Poli is more than 70 points clear of any team in total points scored. Some bad luck has left Poli at 4-2 but this team is clearly one to be afraid of. When Golden Tate is your flex, you have a solid starting lineup. The bench is starting to thin out a bit, but a little work on the waiver wire and this team should be solid in the playoffs. Anything other than competing for the championship would be a disappoint for this team. Just like last year, this team could finish off the regular season at 5-0.

Team Eline – 6th Place Prediction – Playoffs

This team is all about luck. First, they were lucky to even be in this league since they only advanced after a dropout. Then they put up the 3rd fewest points of any team. Somehow the team has made it to 4-2. Eventually, this team’s luck is going to run out. Amari Cooper tanks the team every other week. Also trusting 3 titans to fill starting roles was a huge mistake. Adam Thielen, Aaron Rodgers, and Kareem Hunt are the lone beacons shining for this team. It will take Herculean efforts from this trio to keep the Commish in the champions league.

Team Williams – 11th Place Prediction – Playoffs

At 1-5, the other late call-up from the Minor Leagues is looking to book their return ticket. The TEs have been amazing and Mahomes even better. But the RBs have been dreadful. Why won’t Cleveland use their RB who they paid a ton of money too in the offseason or the one they used a high draft pick to acquire. Speaking of high draft picks, where is Penny? Outperformed by Mike Davis is never something you want to hear. Unfortunately, Williams will be heading down a league next year.

Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen – 10th Place Prediction – Champions League (No Playoffs)

There were too many Cooks in the Kitchen so one decided to sit out the start of the season. And that has led to the second lowest point total of all of the teams. There is some hope if all the Cooks get back in the kitchen. However, there are still question marks for this team at RB2 and flex. Derrick Henry and all of the Tennesse Titans have been atrocious this year. We will see if these Cooks can squeeze into 6th place or if the playoff kitchen is already too full.

Make Fantasy Great Again – 1st Place Prediction – Minor Leagues

Have I said how great this team is? Huge victories every week. And they are headed to the playoffs for sure. The team still has room to grow too. Aaron Jones can start getting the carries he deserves. Sony Michel could have a ball thrown to him instead of just handed off. And even D’Onta Foreman could take over lead back duties in Houston. This team is looking strong as a contender for the first ever Champions League Champion.

The Dre Tones – 9th Place Prediction – Playoffs

If the Dre Tones could all be on the field at the same time, they could have a great team. Unfortunately, injuries and inconsistent play have plagued this team throughout the season. Fournette needs to come back sooner rather than later if this team hopes to make any kind of a push for the sixth seed. It isn’t looking good though.
