Welcome to year 2 of the Relegation Fantasy Football Association. For the first time, we will see one champion to rule them all. We will definitely have a way to commemorate this big event by the end of the season.
This draft of expert fantasy football minds led to a surprising outcome where QBs were not highly prioritized. QBs went slow and some teams elected to roster only 1 starter at the beginning of the season. The different styles should lead to a great shootout between these 12 titans. The winner will surely be deserving of the title Champion of the Champions.
Team McAfee – 1st Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues
We start off with a prime example of a team eschewing the typical 2QB strategy. The 2nd QB for this team was picked up in the 15th round and his name is Joe Flacco. The same Joe Flacco that will have 71,000 fans screaming to put in Lamar Jackson as soon as there is one interception or maybe one incompletion. But assuming Joe Flacco still has a job in week 16, this team has the skill players to take them far. Chris Hogan could be a sneaky WR1 with so few options in New England right now.
Norfolk Yokels – 2nd Pick Prediction – Playoffs
The big question here is with the TE. If that is the biggest problem a team has, it is in good shape. This team is very balanced with a lot of upside. Josh Gordon could be a WR1. Marlon Mack could be a starting RB in the 10th round. And Jameis Winston could be a top 10 QB, but for this team, he is a backup. There is no doubt in my mind this team will be one of the first teams in the Champions League playoffs.
Kerryon Up the Khyber – 3rd Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues
The early front-runner for the biggest injury loser award goes to Kerryon Up the Kyber. Goodbye round 2 pick Jerick McKinnon. Luckily Kerryon has a potential backup RB2 in LeSean McCoy, there are probably 50 college teams with a better overall team than the Buffalo Bills. While Kerryon might be able to survive at RB, this is at the expense of QB. Sure, Matt Ryan had one great season. And Eli Manning has some great weapons. But the likelihood of both being good this year at the same time seems pretty low. And Sam Bradford is likely to be at the doctor’s office with McKinnon after a week or two. This team has too many needs to stay in the Champions League next year.
Don’t Drink and Draft – 4th Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues
The team with the coveted 4th pick. It was by far the most desired spot in all of the leagues. With the 4th overall pick, the Drinks picked David Johnson. More importantly, he was able to pick up Devonta Freeman which was the end of a tier of top RBs. Then 2 solid WRs give the Drinks solid skill players. Round 5 and 6 start to present problems for the Drinkies. Carson Wentz and Alshon Jeffrey are going to miss at least 1 week and there is no backup QB on this team. 2 weeks without these two could lead to an 0-2 start. In an 11 week regular season, this could be disaster.
Team Essman – 5th Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues
Most experts suggest going RB early. Essman gave them a big FU and went with 2 WRs followed by 2 top QBs. Unfortunately, the first RB Essman took, Jay Ajayi, only has one knee and 3 teammates looking to steal carries. There are 4 other RBs on Essman’s team but they are all in timeshares. Essman is also hoping for big things from Jimmy Graham who hasn’t been great since New Orleans on a team that hasn’t had a great TE in many years. All of this is going to drop Essman back to the Minor Leagues.
Disgusting Act by Randy Moss – 6th Pick Prediction – Champions League (No Playoffs)
Randy Moss is back for a second year of disgusting acts. Randy started with Saquon Barkley who is most certainly going to show off some sick moves this year. Overall this is a very balanced team that may lack some depth. With only 4 RBs, and 2 on the same team, expect to see Randy on the waiver wire early trying to pick up a breakout RB. The balance on the team should keep the team out of the Minor Leagues, but it isn’t going to be enough for the playoffs.
Team Poli – 7th Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues.
Hopefully Poli gets off to better than an 0-5 start like last year, but it isn’t looking good. While Moss is light on RB, Poli is in an even more difficult situation. With only 3 RBs on this roster, Poli will be forced to start either Crowell or Bernard. The RBs on this team look worse than the team that lost McKinnon. This team’s only hope is for Darnold and Eifert to shine early and become trade pieces to pick up a good RB and finish the season 6-0 like last year.
Team Eline – 8th Pick Prediction – Playoffs
Did anyone notice how many points the commissioner had last year? It was a lot. The draft started well for the commissioner with the top QB falling to him in the second round. This led to a weaker RB2 but Lamar Miller and Dion Lewis could definitely fill in that spot throughout the season. The commissioner panicked a bit in the eighth round picking up a 2nd QB that has been often injured and has never put together a great season. After regaining his composure, he finished the draft strong with a bunch of high upside picks that should round into form for the bye weeks. Guaranteed playoff contender.
Team Williams – 9th Pick Prediction – Playoffs
An early run on RBs left Willy with 2 top WRs and one of the top TEs. The rest of the draft was spent searching for break out RBs. Kenyan Drake and Duke Johnson can certainly be a good one-two punch. Then one of the three rookie RBs is sure to break out this year in Penny, Chubb, and Wilkins. This is combined that with some great depth at TE with OJ Howard and George Kittle and the best defense in the league. The big gap is in QB with Josh Allen as the QB2 who isn’t yet starting. Williams is one breakout away from a blockbuster trade for a QB and making the playoffs.
Team Hewitt – 10th Pick Prediction – Champions League (No Playoffs)
Hewitt put together a very balanced team taking a different position in each of the first four rounds. 3 Different positions were also taken through his next 4 picks. The main thing keeping Hewitt up at night is his RB situation. Derrick Henry is very questionable with the acquisition of Dion Lewis in Tennesse. Kerryon Johnson also has to fight through a crowded backfield to get enough touches to be relevant. Hewitt should be able to put together enough starting running backs to go with his otherwise strong starting lineup.
Make Fantasy Great Again – 11th Prediction – Minor Leagues
This team had a huge first pick in OBJ. Followed up with a really great second WR in Doug Baldwin. He isn’t hurt. Those reports are fake news. Fake news. Baldwin is great. And the team loves him. They love me too. Big fans. Huge fans. Aaron Jones’s suspension has also been pardoned. He is a great guy. There was a witch hunt for him, but he is a great guy. Didn’t deserve it. He is a big fan of me too. They are all big fans of me.
The Dre Tones – 12th Prediction – Playoffs
Dre is back with 3 RBs in the first 3 picks. If Royce Freeman continues his TD streak from the preseason, he could be the best flex any team will field this season. Despite picking up his 2nd WR in the 7th round, Dre found a steal in Marquise Goodwin. He could be in for a big season with Jimmy G throwing the ball to him. Mike Williams, Cameron Meredith, and Corey Clement give some good upside in the late rounds. Those players should take this team to the playoffs.
