League Z End of Season Update

Congratulations to our Z League Champion, Anthony Steele.

Honorable mention for 2nd place Tom Lardner, 3rd place Ryan Demien, and 4th place Mark Lewis.

I would just like to point out that the commissioner had the most points scored and then put up 300.7 points in the first round (47.3 ahead of anyone else) followed by 278 in the second part of the playoffs. (24.1 ahead of anyone else). But 6-5 doesn’t get you in the playoffs in league Z which and leaves you with a big fat L next to your name.

Enough about that, week 1 of the playoffs saw the Deadmeats against the Dre Tones. Despite a fantastic second week by the Tones, he couldn’t overcome a 39.3 point deficit. The other semifinal exposed the week roster on the Demien Machine. With Crabtree out, this wasn’t even a contest. In the final, we saw a huge 28.7 point comeback in the second week fueled by a balanced team effort. No player scored less than 8.3 and the Ravens D was the only player over 20 points. While the Yokels had 5 starters fail to get over the 8.3 point mark. It is hard to fault the Yokels for choosing those starters, but there were enough points on the bench to claim the championship.

The Dre Tones – 4th Place Initial Prediction – Minor Leagues

Here is your Ezekiel Elliott team struggling in the playoffs. This is still a great result considering David Johnson never contributed to the success of this team. A great team all season but the known risk finally came back to hurt the Dre Tones too much. Hopefully next season doesn’t have any key players stuck in the courts instead of playing on the field.

Commissioner – 5th Place Initial Prediction – Champions League

Did I mention this team had the most points in the regular season? Did I mention this team scored the most points in the playoffs? I think I might have slipped it in already one or twice but it is still true. I also won’t be drafting Luck next year. Who knows what his future will hold.

Pudgy Penguins – 11th Place Initial Prediction – Amateur Hour League

TY Hilton just killed this team week in and week out. Antonio Brown had another fantastic season but it wasn’t enough to carry the rest of the team. I don’t see one player that really outplayed expectations which is some bad luck. Not as bad as scoring the most points…okay never mind. The Penguins are headed to the bottom league where hopefully they can find some magic.

Stoke Storm – 6th Place Initial Prediction – Minor Leagues

In a dynasty league, this team would be looking fantastic. However, a couple stars couldn’t pull together the other streaky players. Too many weeks hoping for Amari Cooper, Julio Jones, and Kareem Hunt to have big games created one too many in the loss column. A solid year and most expect this team to be competing for the Champions League next year.

Blofield Deadmeats – Champion Initial Prediction – Minor Leagues

The Deadmeats should be splitting the winnings with Alvin Kamara. One of the best single player performances all year and especially strong in the second half when it counted. Solid performances by the rest of the team led to consistent points and just enough wins to reach the playoffs. All year this team had just enough to get by opponents. It doesn’t matter how many points you score as long as you score more than the other team.

Cleveland Frowns – 12th Place Initial Prediction – Champions League

Following the local team closely, the Frowns finished with a fantastic 0 wins. The team wasn’t even that bad, but poor outings by DeMarco Murray, Moncrief, Jordan Mathews, and Flacco would pull this team down every week. The Frowns will be operating out of the bottom of the Amatuer Hour League next year. I really got the prediction wrong on this one.

Team Hensley – 8th Place Initial Prediction – Amateur Hour League

Wins in weeks 9 and 10 just barely got Team Hensley into the Minor Leagues. The aging Dez Bryant and Jordy Nelson proved to be too much for this team to overcome. And going into the season with Blount and Woodhead as the starting RBs was a recipe for disaster. 8th place was actually a good result at 5-6 considering all of the early roster challenges facing this team. Team Hensley also saw the most points allowed at 1333.9. 60.5 points clear of the next team. That is some bad luck.

Norfolk Yokels – 2nd Place Initial Prediction – Champions League

A solid team all year that was boosted by the breakout of Adam Thielen and Nelson Agholor. A rough final week of the playoffs was the only thing that prevented this team from raising the trophy at the end of the year. None the less a solid year that will have the Yokels competing in the Champions League next year.

Team Legion of Doom – 7th Place Initial Prediction – Champions League

Really disappointing QB play for this team. Andy Dalton and Marcus Mariota are currently 19th and 21st among QBs. Certainly not the year the Legion of Doom was hoping for out of these two. There were plenty of players with solid years on the roster including Cooks, Freeman, Robert Woods, and Duke Johnson but that was only good for a Minor League appearance next year.

TheFanPub.com Podcast – 9th Place Initial Prediction – Minor Leagues

Marshawn Lynch, Martavis Bryant, and Mike Evans. A great year by Tyreek Hill and Davante Adams wasn’t enough to turn all of this around. Weakness at TE and RB was too much to turn this team around despite great play from Brady as well. 3rd most points allowed in the league and this team was doomed to be a part of the inaugural Amateur Hour League

Los Pollos Hermanos – 10th Place Initial Prediction – Amateur Hour League

The chickens fell into the Amateur Hour League in the last few weeks of the season. Doug Martin and Sammy Watkins lead the list of disappointments and injuries to Rodgers and Corey Coleman left this team searching for answers on the waiver wire. Little help was found soon enough to rescue this team. There weren’t even any breakouts to give this team hope.

Demien Machine – 3rd Place Initial Prediction – Amateur Hour League

Scoring only the 9th most points in the league, the machine found itself in the playoffs. They must have been surprised like everyone else in the first round because they didn’t show up. Somehow the machine claimed 3rd place overall. Now we know where all of the luck was. Honestly, this team looks terrible. I am expecting the Machine to be demoted next year as the luck runs out.
