Congratulations to our Y League Champion, James Essman.
Honorable mention for 2nd place Alex Poli, 3rd place Nabaa Alam, and 4th place Gian Marco Kuster.
Cookout’s Champions won the final 6 regular season games after a 0-5 start and made it all the way to the championship game. Well done. 5 teams were tied at 6-5 including Cookout’s Champions and it all came down to points for the last championship spot.
In the first semifinal Cookout’s Champions took down the #1 seed Running Back U. The lack of Elliott for Running Back U and a poor performance of Kareem Hunt sealed Running Back U’s fate.
In the second semifinal, some key injuries and the Crabtree fight took down the B’s.
In the final, it was basically over after the first week as Kamara only put up a few points. McCoy was great and Essman held up JPP’s finger to let everyone know he was number one. We were going to have fireworks to celebrate the winner…but those were canceled at the last minute.
Cheng’s Squad – 9th Place Prediction – Minor Leagues
Cheng finished the season 1-2 to fall into the Amateur Hour League. Cheng avoided the lowest total points by only 2.6 points. A good draft location next year will help Cheng get out of the basement. The big problem this year was injuries to Jordan Reed, Ty Montgomery, and Chris Thompson combined with a down year for TY Hilton. Tough season.
Green Bay Spackers – 10th Place Prediction – Championship League
I thought the Spackers would be in the Champions League at the start of the season. With 3 games I left I thought there was still a chance at the minor leagues. I was wrong. Two losses to finish the season left these guys in the Amateur Hour League. The team had some underperformers and the rest of the year was too inconsistent to get wins.
Running Back U – 3rd Place Prediction – Minor Leagues
Zeke led this team to the playoffs with the #1 seed. The suspension was too much to overcome in the playoffs while playing against some great teams. The big risk appeared to be paying off, but he couldn’t quite close out the deal.
Atlanta’s Chick Fil A Stand – 6th Place Prediction – Amateur Hour League
About 80 points out of 4th place will leave Chick Fil A in the Minor Leagues. They outperformed expectations though. Maybe next year they can keep improving and get into the Champions League. The QBs really let this team down. Jay Cutler was never going to lead this team to the championship. No offseason pictures, please.
Show Me Your TDS, Aaron – 7th Place Prediction – Minor Leagues
Another team going 1-2 in the final three weeks to drop leagues. This team struggled with RBs all season. CJ Anderson could only put together a good game after you gave up on him. Maybe if Rodgers has stayed healthy this would be a different story, but the lack of depth at key positions proved to be too much for this team to overcome.
Sneaky Little B’s – 4th Place Prediction – Champions League
This team was in the bottom half of points scored but came out 2nd after the regular season. The problems with points came through in the playoffs though. Just out of the cash this year should leave this team hungry for a Champions League run next year.
Disco Ninja’s – 5th Place Prediction – Amateur Hour League
A 2-1 finish wasn’t enough to get into the playoffs. Only 70 points kept this team from moving up into the Champions League. Allen Robinson and Martavis Bryant left this team without a WR2. Either one playing decent could have gotten a few more points or that one win to get them into the Champions League.
Team Begun – 11th Place Prediction – Minor Leagues
One of our cellar dwellers really struggled at RB this year. Consistency killed this team in addition. A mostly poor season by Hunter Henry also created a notable gap in the team. Clearly, the Browns are impacting all of the fantasy teams located in Cleveland. Drafting like the Browns is not a winning a strategy.
Cookout’s Champions – 2nd Place Prediction – Minor League
Alex Smith and Alvin Kamara led this team. Jimmy Graham and Fournette had nice years too. Despite a disappointing first pick with Mike Evans, this team really outperformed and had a great run to get into the playoffs. I should have gone and put some money on them in Vegas when they were 0-5 to start the year. In the initial predictions I said this team didn’t find much upside in the late rounds. Apparently I was wrong and Alex Smith was all that was needed to complete this team.
JPP Gave me the Finger – 1st Place Prediction – Champions League
Despite being only having the 6th highest point total for the regular season, consistency in the playoffs took JPP all the way to the championship. The team really showed up for the playoffs and showed why they deserved the title. We will see if they can become the inaugural winner of the Champions League next year.
Team Froass – 8th Place Prediction – Amateur Hour League
Carson Wentz couldn’t overcome many underperforming players including Moncrief, Crowell, and Nelson. Froass hung on to the last spot of the Minor Leagues. Hopefully, the team is a little healthier next year and this team can make a better push for the playoffs.
Wilfork on First Date – 12th Place Prediction – Champions League
It took 11 weeks, but this team now looks great. If only the team could have started with Garoppolo, Alex Collins, Burkhead, and Josh Gordon producing how they are now. But as it stands, this team is starting out way ahead in the competition of most improved next year. Way to stay active on the waiver wire. I am sure multiple teams have been cursing the name Wilfork throughout the season as their key waiver wire add was sniped from them.
