League Z Midseason Update

This league is full of intrigue leading into the last few weeks of the season. 11 teams are within 3 games leaving no one safe. All 11 of the teams appear to have a chance at making the playoffs. It’s probably going to come down to points scored to see who ends up in each league next year. The only thing that is for certain is Cleveland bringing up the rear.

The Dre Tones – 1st Place Initial Prediction – Minor Leagues

The Dre Tones had the unfortunate luck of losing David Johnson but has an equal amount of good luck by getting Zeke for the entire season. This combined with a surprising performance by Alex Smith has catapulted The Dre Tones into 1st place overall. Making the playoffs and success in the playoffs seems largely tied Zeke’s success in the courtroom. If Zeke plays expect to see this team to be thinking about a championship.

Commissioner – 3rd Place Initial Prediction – Champions League

The most points scored and it’s not close. However, that is driven by Chris Thompson and Will Fuller unexpectedly being some of the best players for fantasy. Injuries have led to some major challenges for the team. The loss of Luck and Bradford have left the team with no solid second QB options. This team is facing many byes in week 9 and a tough week 11 matchup. If they can find a win between these two weeks, they should find themselves fighting for a championship. However, it could be the biggest disappointment after being in first place just a few weeks ago.

Pudgy Penguins – 9th Place Initial Prediction – Amateur Hour League

There are some very solid players on this team but a solid RB2 and WR2 just couldn’t be found. TY Hilton could be one of the largest disappoints mainly because Luck could never get healthy. If AP can find the magic from two weeks ago, this team could just pull themselves out of the Amateur Hour League. I am going to count it as a successful prediction at this point.

Stoke Storm – 6th Place Initial Prediction – Minor Leagues

I’m not sure what happened here. If I told you a team had Fournette and Hunt, you would be saying playoffs for sure. However, we see this team in the middle of the pack. Other teams haven’t even put up huge points against them. Amari Cooper and Winston must be really pulling this team down each week. Going forward there is no reason why this team couldn’t run the tables for the rest of the season and make the playoffs. I wouldn’t want to face them in these last 3 weeks.

Blofield Deadmeats – 7th Place Initial Prediction – Minor Leagues

Injuries and poor performances have hurt Blofield all season. Crowell never really showed any success all season. Hogan and Shepard have been sidelined for parts of the season as well. There just isn’t enough pop on this team to get a lot of wins. It is still a complete team with a chance at the playoffs. This is a key week against the commissioner to make a real case for the playoffs. He appears to be right at the initial prediction.

Cleveland Frowns – 12th Place Initial Prediction – Champions League

Well, Tyrod and Flacco haven’t performed. Eifert and ARob went to IR early in the season and no one else showed up for this team. The only role left to play is spoiler for other people. Not sure why I had them in the Champions League. You can’t win them all. Better luck next year Cleveland.

Team Hensley – 11th Place Initial Prediction – Amateur Hour League

Surprise value from McKinnon and Buck Allen have kept this team relevant. However, the loss of value on Jordy Nelson is going to leave this team struggling through the end of the season. The team is full of players who will consistently put up some points. Any misstep by an opponent will be punished for sure but the initial prediction appears to be holding true.

Norfolk Yokels – 4th Place Initial Prediction – Champions League

The Yokels have put together a very solid team with the help of the waiver wire picking up Aaron Jones. This team is now complete and ready to make a championship run. This is impressive considering Mixon still hasn’t become the rusher people hoped he would when they drafted him. The future is bright for the Yokels.

Team Legion of Doom – 5th Place Initial Prediction – Champions League

The last of the 5-3 teams needs to put up some wins or at least some points. Unfortunately, rookie sensation Watson is now out for the season. 2 useable QBs remain on the roster though and this team has a chance to compete. WR is a little weak but if they can get through a tough week 9 with 3 key players on byes, the champions league may still be in the future.

TheFanPub.com Podcast – 10th Place Initial Prediction – Minor Leagues

Marshawn Lynch and Martavis Bryant. That explains just about everything for this team and these two are unlikely to turn anything around for the end of the season. Some key waiver wire pickups could allow this team to spoil the good times of other teams but that is about all the rest of the season has to offer for this team.

Los Pollos Hermanos – 8th Place Initial Prediction – Amateur Hour League

Sammy Watkins put this team in a bad place early. Then Aaron Rodgers going down took out all hope for this team. If this were a keeper league, the team has promise for next year. Unfortunately, they will have to draft a new team next year in the Amateur Hour League.

Demien Machine – 2nd Place Initial Prediction – Amateur Hour League

I can’t explain it other than Carson Wentz. Nothing about this team inspires you for success. He is in a good place for the playoffs, but don’t expect much if the machine gets there. I think the luck of the machine is running low though.
