League X Draft Recap and Predicitons

Overall, we see many different strategies employed in this draft. Some are very extreme. This league looks fairly evenly matched where everyone has a chance and no one has totally blown it after the draft.

Team Carr – 1st Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues A lot riding here on the 3rd round pick of Cam Newton. Will he be the best QB like 2015 or a complete dud like 2016? The gamble is amplified by Kelvin Benjamin in the 7th round. A thin RB corps could be helped by having 2 strong TEs as one could become a key trade piece. Some late young WRs could also pop and make a difference for this team. I would suggest Team Carr start sending care packages to Cam now to hope he is ready to carry this team.

Dak in a Box – 2nd Pick Prediction – Amateur Hour League Not surprisingly Dak in a Box has picked up Dak in the 5th round. You have to protect your name. You just have to hope you don’t play against Dak in a Box on Ajayi’s big days. Most of the time Ajayi has put up 50 yds instead of 200 yds and that could spell trouble for Dak in a Box. Tyrod Taylor as the 2nd QB is also a little suspicious when he is playing for a team that is rebuilding by first destroying Tyrod’s receivers. However, there are some bright spots. If a New Orleans RB breaks out as a lead then Dak in a Box could have another RB1. There is also depth at every position so there should be a solid starting lineup each week.

Texas Forever – 3rd Pick Prediction – Amateur Hour League This is the best draft I have seen in a bit……if it was dynasty. 4 rookies and a couple other second year players need to step up early and often in order to stay out of the relegation zone. This team could be a terror in the playoffs if all of these rookies break out. Another 2 TE team could create the trade potential for running back that has actually played a snap in the NFL.

Zero Everything – 4th Pick Prediction – Amateur Hour League Staying true to the name, the #1 QB and TE are both questionable for week 1. On top of that, a 6th round Andy Dalton may have been a bit early with no RBs and no Flex yet. All of the RBs certainly have potential or have shown it in the past. I guess you throw all of this crap on the wall and see what sticks. Hopefully something sticks or Zero Everything is going to include zero wins.

Lucky Mama – 5th Pick Prediction – Champions League A strong opening to the draft with two solid QBs, a game-changing TE in Gronk and a few solid RBs and WRs to fill the remaining starting spots. This should lead to early success and continued success if Spencer Ware and Paul Perkins can hold onto their starting jobs which is not for certain. The bench leaves a little be desired. 3 players in an SF passing attack doesn’t initially look like a great insurance policy and reports haven’t been positive so far on Jamaal Charles. If the starters hold up, this team may be looking at the playoffs.

Team McAfee – 6th Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues Here we see the wait on a QB strategy. Unfortunately, team McAfee waited so long the draft was over before a 2nd QB could be secured. This does give the best WR and RB depth. This may be the most consistent team all year. Every week will have a strong lineup of RBs and WRs that lack the burst of a 2nd QB. I am predicting a 5-5-1 record.

Alstadt Biergarten – 7th Pick Prediction – Amateur Hour League As patient as Team McAfee was at QB, Alstadt was panicking from the start of draft about QBs. Add that to an RB suspended for 6 weeks leaves the rest of the positions a little weak. I’m not sure Allen Robinson is going to find his old form with Blake Bortles or Chad Henne throwing to him. With a lack of upside on the bench, this team may dig a hole too big to recover from. A strong finish may not keep Alstadt from the bottom league next year.

Team Eline – 8th Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues Another zero QB strategy only taking Trevor Siemian. Team Eline must have been waiting as long as possible to make sure Trevor was actually going to start. WR and RB depth is what this team is all about. It could lead to a lot of trade value for a better TE and QB. Or expect to see Team Eline on the waiver wire looking for a rookie QB to break out.

Rick and Mortd’s – 9th Pick Prediction – Champions League The most well-rounded draft in league X gives solid options at all positions with a bench that offers some upside and some constant point production. Expect to see Rick and Mortd’s to be putting up big numbers each week consistently. Here is a team set up for success as they start planning their draft strategy for the champions league next year.

Disgusting Act by Randy Moss – 10th Pick Prediction – Champions League Hopefully, the senior citizens can stay upright long enough for the young players to develop. We will also have to see if a 37-year-old Carson Palmer can throw it more than 10 yards downfield. A WR heavy draft puts a lot of hope in a 31-year-old Danny Woodhead coming off a major injury. Assuming he can put up enough points early to allow Kareem Hunt or Thomas Rawls to secure a starting position, this team could be set up for success.

Luck Dynasty – 11th Prediction – Minor Leagues Proving a name used two years a row is okay if most of the people in the league change. Considering Ben Roethlisberger only plays well at home Luck Dynasty will have to rely on the 3rd QB for half of the weeks. And QB3 is…………Blake Bortles. Well, he might still be the starter for Jacksonville or this team might be in for a long season.

Team Begun – 12th Prediction – Champions League Team Begun appears to be looking forward to retirement. Marshawn Lynch coming out of retirement and Anquan Boldin going into retirement. Despite the 1 wasted draft pick, team begun has managed to put together another solid team with upside on the bench. A clear front-runner as they try to avoid early retirement from the league.
