Minor League X Draft Recap

This league finished over a week before Minor League Y and the leagues filled the same day. So let me first say thank you. And 2nd the slow draft era is probably over. Now to the draft. Overall I am continually surprised by how different each draft is when it comes to QBs. 5 QBs in the first round is crazy to me. Almost all of the “experts" out there say go QB early and often. And while the 2nd round was pretty red, I think we will see some interesting results.

TomLardner – 1st Pick Prediction – Champions League

Overall a solid start to the draft picking up consistent QBs, RBs, and WRs. Then I think there is going to be a big value with Godwin in the 7th. It sounds more and more like he will start week 1. And Godwin at WR3 is dangerous for everyone else. I also like the RB depth with Henderson, Herbert, Darrell Williams, and Rashad Penny. I don’t love Dawson Know but I can’t argue with a pick too much when you wait on TE. A solid team that I think is well suited for a playoff run.

TBegun – 2nd Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues

This team is mediocre. Nothing too bad, nothing too great either. I do like Saquon in the third. But I am not confident in Akers as an RB2 with a lack of RB depth after him. Then the WRs worry me as well. Davante is great, but Rodgers fed him early and often. I wonder if he will be a bit more volatile this year. This team’s success probably hinges on Jeudy and JuJu. Both have talent but haven’t shown it recently. They both really need to do well because there probably won’t be an RB in the flex spot. That is a lot to ask for the team so I can’t put them in the playoffs.

CrimeDog90 – 3rd Pick Prediction – Amateur Hour League

There is a fine line between bravery and stupidity. If your house is on fire and you run back inside to save your glass sculpture of TJ Houshmandzadeh, people will call you stupid. But when a firefighter goes in to pull you out after you get trapped searching for glass TJ, the firefighter is brave. Both people ran into a burning building but one is stupid and one is brave. So then the question, “Is it brave or stupid to wait until the end of the 8th round to take your first QB in a superflex league.” Well, you get the best QB and TE but the rest is not as solid as you would like. You should have studs but Etienne, Michael Thomas, and Zeke all have big question marks for me. To have these questions and no answer at QB is a concern. Scruff McGruff fights crime, not fires. So it may just be stupid for him to go into a burning building.

FFinnAnalyst – 4th Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues

I didn’t even realize we had back-to-back owners waiting on QB. This time it was the end of the 6th instead of the end of the 8th. I like the RB and WR picks better on this team but the TE is far from Travis Kelce. And there are only two QBs on this team. Fields and Goff. I think both could be decent and both could be really bad. The whole team hinges on these two players. And Watson is a wasted pick. Aside from all the off-the-field issues, he comes back week 13. Are you really going to play him that week? Well maybe if your QBs are Fields and Goff. But I don’t think you want to. I would rather have the 3 playable QBs like the Crime Dog.

Team BrBarnfield – 5th Pick Prediction – Amateur Hour Leagues

I start to write these reviews and you may be surprised, but I don’t put a lot of preparation into it. I just start reviewing teams one by one. And after 4 teams that I all more or less like, you get the feeling some bad ones are coming. I don’t necessarily hate this team but I have some issues. Derrick Henry over Mahomes is very risky. Henry is coming off an injury but he could be once again a dominant RB. Stafford has elbow soreness, Kittle is often injured, Gibson is losing his job, and AJ Brown is on a new team. I may come back and move this team up if some real stinkers are coming up. But for now, Amateurs.

Jessman82 – 6th Pick Prediction – Champions League

Mahomes 6th overall, yes please. Mark Andrews in the 3rd, I'll take some of that. Tee Higgins in the 5th, a nice value. A potential RB 2 that has stand-alone weekly value plus a big boost with an injury. I’ll take 3 in Dillon, Hunt, and Rhamondre. Plus some young WRs with upside for dessert. He didn’t even have to try on this draft. Players were just falling to Jessman left and right.

RBegun – 7th Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues

Halfway through and no terrible teams. And yet, another team I don’t hate. Prescott and Lance at QB plus Ekeler and Fournette at RB sounds really strong. DJ Moore, and Sutton both could be nice values at WR. And I am a fan of Ertz this year. Some RBs on the bench. I almost want to put this team in the Champions League. Either I am feeling way too good right now or some absolute trash teams are coming up.

DAW314 – 8th Pick Prediction – Champions League

This team is dripping with potential. I don’t love the end of the draft so I am going to leave them in the Minors but this team could easily make me eat my words later. Russel Wilson is on a new team. Kyle Pitts, nothing more needs to be said for him. Pittman and Money at WR could both take big steps forward. T Law and Jacobs both got rid of disgusting coaches so they could improve also. Then Dameon Pierce and WRs with potential. It's great. I already changed my mind while writing this paragraph. Champions League.

pfroass– 9th Pick Prediction – Amateur Hour League

Thanks Paul, I need a team to put in the bottom. I don’t think Javonte is an RB1 with Mel Go still there. Then CEH or Patterson have to fill an RB2 spot. DK is catching balls from someone who isn’t great at throwing them. It is just some bad situations. And the late picks including 2 defenses just aren’t going to cut it in this league.

Apot – 10th Pick Prediction – Minor Leagues

Another pretty decent team. The RBs are getting long in the tooth but they can still have a great year this year. Tyreek and Diontae were both WR 1s last year. Matt Ryan and Zach Wilson are not bad to fill out the QB room. But there isn’t a lot else to really get me excited. I think 2 old RBs means one will get hurt, then this team is in trouble. But still a solid team.

Kkdanielle18– 11th Prediction – Minor Leagues

This is another team that I think is just on the edge of the playoffs. Hurts can be QB1 overall. Tua just gained a great receiving option. The RB2 isn’t strong but there are a couple of shots at it. WR2 is probably my biggest concern. Devonta Smith, Drake London, and Hunter Renfrow could all be solid WR2s, or they could all be WR3s that aren’t winning you weeks. It may also be hard to pick between them. So for that reason, I’m out.

kbeals – 12th Prediction – Amateur Hour League

1st two picks are great. Kyler/Jefferson at the turn is a dream come true. But then the nightmare begins. Rodgers was MVP last year but who is he going to throw to? And the top 3 RBs will be lucky to catch 10 passes between them all year. Of the three, there is only 1 season between them with more than 20 receptions all year. It is only 0.5 ppr but it still counts. Bateman and Amari feel a little weak as a WR2. There are some extra QBs on the bench which is about the only thing that could save this team in a trade.
