Minor League Y Draft Recap
Hi Everyone! And welcome to another year of the Relegation Fantasy Football League. Good luck to all of you on making it to the Champions League.
El Camino - 1st Pick (Champions League)
Love the double early running QB setup with Josh Allen and Jaden Daniels. Puca joins as the WR1. I don't love the two RBs in Jacobs and White. Neither has amazing efficiency so you are really running a risk that one doesn’t work out. Diggs and Moore are in crowded WR rooms but not bad for WR2 options. I really like the 8/9 turn. Engram and Brooks could be the deciders for this team. Both could be a top option at their positions for the end of the year. Then Hockenson in the 12th is another late season option that opens up some trade options. I like the build and how the team is set up for success in the 2nd half of the season.
bth2718 - 2nd Pick (Minor Leagues)
A very early LaPorta is the number one thing that sticks out on this team. And a very late QB2. The WRs are solid for this team with Marvin Harrison Jr, Davontae, and Tee. The RBs are a little uglier with James Cook and David Montgomery. And that QB2 of Daniel Jones is scary. I am fine with drafting Daniel Jones, but I would like to see a 3rd QB on the team. Maybe a Nix or Maye. But this team picked up Brissett and I don’t think he is going to last long as the starter. That early LaPorta really pushed RB down and QB down and the whole team down out of the playoffs.
TBegun - 3rd Pick (Champions League)
Putting two of the first 3 teams in the champions league really makes me nervous writing these. How bad are things going to get for some teams? But I like the build of this team too much. Lamar and Stafford at QB should be just fine. Saquon as a hero-esque RB build gives London, Waddle, and Nabers at WR. Pitts is a solid find in the 7th. Then Pollard, Javontae, and Brian Robinson should provide enough in the RB2 spot. At little WR heavy at the end, but there is still upside. Shakir could be WR1 in Buffalo and there have been good reports on Jamieson Williams and Jalen McMillan.
ToppGunner - 4th Pick (Minor Leagues)
Here we start to fall apart a bit. No complaints in the first 5 rounds. You didn’t lose it there. But I don’t think you want to rely on Aaron Jones and Zamir White as your RBs. Aaron Jones is getting older and may not be able to handle a full workload. And Zamir White may just be bad. Trey Benson does redeem the RB room a little bit. But Kendre Millar and Lloyd later don’t give me a lot of hope for this team. A glaring gap at RB that will prevent those first 5 picks from taking this team into the postseason.
Srochat - 5th Pick (Amateur Hour League)
We can change the name of this team to “Meh”. Jordan Love and Tua, both good QBs in real life but lack the upside for fantasy. Mike Evans always gets 1000 yards, but thats about it. Davonte Smith is 2nd fiddle to AJ Brown. James Conner is a starter I guess. So is Christian Kirk and Derek Carr. They are all fine. But that’s it. They will get some wins. Probably the same number as their loses. And they will be back in the Minors next year. After getting to the bottom of the writeup, this team is actually a bottom 4 team as they quickly fade into obscurity.
Loblaw21 - 6th PIck (Amateur Hour League)
3 QBs in rounds 4, 5, and 6 is ….interesting. I would be happy with Cousins and Mayfield, but I would leave Watson out. I don’t think he is ever going to regain what he once had. And it seems unnecessary to pick up a 3rd QB that early. Maybe if one of them had some major rushing upside, but I don’t think it is there anymore. This left the team with Tank Dell and Calvin Ridley in the WR2 spot. I think both will have big weeks but good luck guessing when they hit. Then Gus Edwards is the 3rd and final RB on this team and thats not going to cut it. Trade out Watson for Kamara and the team is at least middle of the road. But as is, they are headed down.
Justshort179 - 7th Pick (Minor Leagues)
Overall I like the build, but on the first pass I am keeping them out of the Champions League. Lamb, Burrow, Pacheco is a fine start. Plenty of flexibility from there. Kincaid could certainly be a difference maker. I don’t love the Cooper, Rice, Worthy run. Feels a little heavy on WR and your best bet is you found the KC WR1 and have two misses. But maybe Worthy and Rice split games and it is difficult to choose between them. Chase Brown, Charbonnet, and McLaughlin all are solid late RB pick ups to round out the team. And a hope and a prayer on Fields in the 12th could give this team another trade chip. There are a lot of things to like on thai team, but that WR run in the middle is the deciding factor for this team to come up short.
FFinnAnalyst - 8th Pick (Champions League)
I am going to assume Chase doesn’t miss more than a game or two at most. Holding out a full season really doesn’t seem like a smart move after Le’Veon. Kyler in the 2nd round, yes please. Taylor and Kamara should be a solid RB pair. And Nico Collins and Kupp sound like a great pair to cover WR2. Ferguson is fine at TE. But I really like the Levis/Maye combo late in the draft. Levis has a new coach and Maye has tons of potential. One of them should deliver some points this year. Then Moss, Palmer, Legette, Wright, and Musgrave all have some solid potential at late round prices. A well structured team. Just start the Go Fund Me for Chase to help him get paid.
Stueyh1122 - 9th Pick (Amateur Hour League)
Another heavy QB build leaves this team lacking at RB. Stroud is fine. And either Rodgers or Geno is fine too. But Geno is taking up valuable real estate right now. And how much of an impact will Geno really have as QB3 compared to a Drake Maye in the 11th? The only reason I see to take Geno is to trade him at some point. But that will be when people are losing their QBs. Even then, how much better is Geno than a backup? I think you can still build around 3 QBs, but this team isn’t doing it for me. Rhamondre, Chubba, Dobbins is pretty weak at RB2 and Njoku was good for half a season with Flacco. I just can’t get excited about this team.
Abanda - 10th Pick (Minor Leagues)
Here is another team I am just barely going to leave out of the playoffs. This league is really shaking up to be the haves and the have nots. I like the ARSB, Dak, Goff, Kelce at the start. Recognizing a weakness at RB and WR, the next 8 picks fill those two areas. And while the upside varies, there are enough shots taken to fill out the lineup. I think my one gripe is with Dak. You could have had Kyler or Burrow. Or you could have waited and gotten Goff and Cousins. That might have just been enough to get this team a win in the playoffs. But we are splitting hairs here. It is a really solid team.
GoBirds071727 - 11th PIck (Amateur Hour League)
This is a tough one. I look at it and there are some picks I love. Kenneth Walker in the 6th feels pretty good. T law in the 4th isn’t bad. Richardson in the 2nd is probably later than other leagues. But then there are land mines throughout. I don’t believe in Derrick Henry. This has been a stupid take for years now but one of these times it will be right. His numbers took a step back last year. I think they keep going down. Kittle is also getting into that realm. I don’t think his boom weeks will sustain him like they used to. Swift is overrated. And Addison needs to get his head screwed on straight. Too many holes to plug and this dam is going to break in a couple of weeks.
SaintLewis - 12 pick (Minor Leagues)
I got to this team with a spot in the Amateurs left, but I’ll have to go change someone else’s because I like this weird build. 3 RBs and 2 QBs to start with. But Breece, Bigan, and Achane pretty much destroy everyone else’s RBs. Then the whole question is how do we fill WR and TE. Metcalf, Keenan, Diontae, and Christian Watson should plug those holes well enough. Then in the 11th and 12th is Nix and Minshew. I like this so much more than the early 3 QB builds. Both of these guys could be trade material for little draft capital. Then Dalton Schultz in the 13th is just what this team needs. A nice value really late in the draft. Does it get to the Champions League? Maybe not. This team will need some great trades to make that happen.
