Minor League X Draft Recap 2024

Welcome back to another year of the Relegation Fantasy Football League!.

Jessman82 - 1st Pick (Minor Leagues)

Definitely a clear draft strategy here. 2QBs and a RB in the first 3 rounds. Then 3 straight WRs followed by 3 RBs. A late TE finishes off the starting lineup in Goedert. The build is solid. Aiyuk at the start of the fourth is looking like a much better value. Metcalf and Higgins should be solid, especially if Chase misses time. I don’t love the RB2 options with Zamir White, Brian Robinson, and Devin Singletary. But picking up Charbonnet and Bucky Irvining later helps give a few more shots at some points. Its a solid team, I am going to keep them just out of the playoffs for some weak RB2s.

LuckyTye - 2nd PIck (Champions League)

Tye also took their first 3 WRs in rounds 4 through 6 just like Jessman. But Tye took a different approach to QB. Will Levis and Daniel Jones will compete for the QB2 spot. While I don’t particularly like either QB, I think one of them could have a decent season. This gave Tye better RB starters with Jonathan Taylor and Gibbs. I even like the WR trio better. Waiting on TE only until round 8 instead of 10 also gave Tye Evan Engram, a top 3 TE last year. The draft has subtle differences and those differences get this team into the playoffs.

Moonwalkertee - 3rd Pick (Minor Leagues)

A 2QB start followed by a hero RB is perfectly reasonable, but it requires a certain build later. Mainly that is loading up on upside RBs later in the draft. Jonathan Brooks can definitely bring this, but not for awhile. It makes me nervous with him as the 2nd RB drafted. This team will have to rely on Javonte and Ford to get through the early part of the season. I am worried that leads to some early losses. A WR core of Mike Evans, Deebo, and Amari Cooper is fine. But they can all disappear through the season. Those disappearances plus the RBs causing a few losses leave this team out of the playoffs.

Apot714- 4th Pick (Minor Leagues)

The first RB for this team came in the 7th. This leaves the team with a ton of strength at WR and sort of TE. Kelce is always a good pickup, but last year his production tailed off a bit. A RB core of Montgomery, Mostert, Chubb, and Corum is interesting. Each of them could work out well, but each could also disappear this year. I do like the late Drake Maye stacked with Ja’lynn Polk. Its solid but those RBs just scare me a bit. Maybe those WRs can take this team to the playoffs, but I think they fall just short.

Ethan - 5th Pick (Amateur Hour League)

A similar late RB build, but this one doesn’t work as well. This team is looking towards Deandre Swift, Pollard, and Ekeler as the first 3 RBs. The only other RB added is Herbert in the 15th round. I don’t think Swift has been that great recently. And Ekeler seems to be on his last legs. This team takes luxury picks in Hockensen, Penix, and Addison when they should have searching for upside RBs. Hockensen won’t offer a lot the first half of the season. Then he might not even be much more than Pitts the 2nd half. Penix is a handcuff that can probably be picked up on waivers after week 3. And Addison isn’t needed with 3 early WRs. And there isn’t a ton of trade value in these players until later in the season. So I think it is back down for this team.

Racesens - 6th Pick (Champions League)

Now here is a fun build. CMC in round 1. Jaden Daniels and Tua to follow. Then LaPorta. This leaves RB2 and all WR positions weak. So Racesens then takes all WRs and RBs the rest of the draft. I don’t love the RBs. But one of them should be able to fill the RB2. I like the upside of the WRs. Pickens could have a big role. Then picking up some lottery ticket rookies is great. Keon Coleman, McConkey, and Brian Thomas could all break out this year. Get a strength, fill the rest. Fantastic.

Rosey1612 - 7th PIck (Minor Leagues)

This is a really solid league. Usually a couple of teams shine and a couple or stinkers. But I keep seeing different teams that could be really solid. Tyreek, Love, and Goff is a good start. Achane and Walker are a nice RB pair. Then DJ Moore, Tank Dell, and Calvin Ridley are a nice trio to compete for WR2. I don’t love Kittle but Dalton Schultz is a good insurance policy. Ray Davis and Tajae Spears are some good late round RBs. It just feels solid like a bunch of other teams. So to split hairs, I’m not positive Love can continue what he did. Achane is electric, but if he only gives 4 games, that isn’t enough. And Kittle is very streaky too. So this team is just barely out of the playoffs and in the minors.

Alex Poli - 8th Pick (Amateur Hour League)

Well here is a team I don’t love. Herbert scares me at QB. The foot injury with few receiving targets doesn’t set him up well. Rashaad White is very inefficient. And Jones and Stevenson at RB2 isn’t a great second option. Then I like picking up Nabers and Worthy in general. But so many players have poor QBs. Jefferson, Nabers, and Bowers all have questionable QB play. I would rather see players on solid offenses for the most part. There are too many problems in this lineup. They are headed down.

Jess Beals - 9th Pick (Champions League)

We have a seen a number teams put a lot of value in 1 position and try to fill the others later. Jess went the other way and filled the positions through the whole draft. And it worked well. Kyler on the 9th pick paired with TLaw and Young. RBs are Pacheco with Kamara, Moss, and Dobbins. And WRs fill out with Pittman, Diontae and Sutton. And Dalton Kincaid in the 7th seems like a lot of good value. I think this team will have a very consistent season and take advantage of other teams with more volatility.

Manading - 10th Pick (Amateur Hour League)

Waiting at QB seems like a bit of a rough strategy after looking at this draft. Sure Lamb, Breece, Jacobs, and Harrison are good. Well I’m not sure about Jacobs but I like everyone else. But it leaves QBs as Aaron Rodgers, Darnold, Nix, and Minshew. Rodgers could be good, but last we saw him doesn’t give a lot of confidence. Then the other 3 are at best a bunch of below average QBs. Not a ton of trade value or production. It isn’t like a late round RB that could get a starting role and catapult into the top 24 for RBs for the rest of the season. So I would rather take shots at positions other than QB.

Gurucoot - 11th Pick (Minor Leagues)

This team has one glaring hole, but the rest of the team is pretty solid. I don’t think Deshaun Watson is ever going to regain his confidence at this point. After this contract, I think he is going to disappear. But other than that, I like two solid WRs with ARSB and London. Bijan in the 1st is supported by James Cook and Najae Harris. And Baker should be a solid QB2. Then the Guru picked up a lot of upside late in the draft. Odunze, Hollywood, Wright, Allgeier, and Mason could all have important roles to play. Maybe only 1 or 2 hit, but with a solid starting lineup. Thats all you really need. Although, why would you take Taysom Hill over Njoku? I am scratching my head on that one.

kbeals - 12th Pick (Amateur Hour League)

No WRs in the first 6 rounds is a strategy you don’t see very much. Picking up a 3rd QB in the 6th seems like Beals is now forced to trade one of them away. The 3 RBs also present a lot of risk. Kyren is returning punts while Henry and Mixon saw their efficiency go way down last year. Are they all in good positions? Yes. But that doesn’t mean father time won’t catch up to one of those two. Then the WRs are okay. It is a bunch of people I would want as my WR3 or later. I would just like to have at least 1 top end WR. Even though a round 12 Njoku is a great value, I don’t think it is certain that Njoku repeats the end of last year again. No WR, No Championship.
